This is ritual drama with a difference. Everyone knows the story of King Arthur, the Knights of the Round Table and the Quest for the Holy Grail. It is ingrained in our legendary past and has become a symbol of hope for our beleaguered future.
In these three days we hope to bring the story to life once more. Instead of a lot of lectures, there will be enactments of crucial parts of the legend.
Each participant will take on the persona of a member of the Court of Camelot and maintain that persona. So you may be Galahad or Nimue, Lady Ragnell the wife of Gawain or Linet the wife of Sir Bors. You may end up as the dour Sir Kai, or Morgan Le Faye. You will not know until the time comes.
Ladies will need to have at least one medieval type gown and headdress. Men need either court dress of the time or half-armour, as well as a sword and a shield with an appropriate charge.
The lecture room will be made into a medieval castle hall, complete with the Table Round, wall hangings, herbs and rushes on the floor, harpist and bard.
More than ritual drama, this gathering harkens the spirit of Arthur and his Knights back from Avalon to awaken the Mysteries of the Grail held within. As we immerse ourselves in the magic of Camelot, the deeper significance of the microcosmic “ United Kingdom” is revealed. And, through the search for the Grail, each attendee has the possibility, if they dare, to restore the Kingdom within.
